CAMAS — This game looked good on paper last spring when the schedules were confirmed.
Not so much in late September, though.
A matchup between quality programs turned into a mismatch of the undefeated against the winless going into Week 4 of the Washington high school football season.
The undefeated remains undefeated.
Camas crushed Lakes of Lakewood 49-0 Friday night at Doc Harris Stadium, as the top-ranked Class 4A team in Washington finished its non-league part of the schedule with another easy victory. The Papermakers have outscored opponents 213-45 in their four wins.
The Camas offense put on another impressive show, but so did the Camas defense.
The Papermakers held the Lancers to 8 yards of rushing in the first half, and after Camas scored six touchdowns in the first two quarters, the second half was all played under the running clock rule.
“For us, it’s not about the hype,” said Camas linebacker Brad Hansen, who had a sack and two other tackles for loss. “If our offense is doing the job, we have to do our job, too. If they’re putting up points, we can’t allow any.”
