The Washington State Department of Transportation will be counting pedestrians and bicyclists Tuesday through Thursday around Vancouver. The sixth annual survey counts the number of people bicycling and walking on trails, bike lanes and sidewalks in cities across the state.
Volunteers will collect numbers using tally sheets at specific locations in each city to better understand the characteristics of vehicle and people traffic. The effort, the state agency says, helps to measure the benefits of traffic investments, determine demand and design traffic projects.
