An annual luncheon raised $115,000 for Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center’s Child Abuse Assessment Team.

The second annual Salmon Creek Hospital Foundation Cares Luncheon was held Sept. 12.

Nearly 500 community members gathered to raise awareness and money in support of medical assessments for children who have experienced abuse. That’s a significant increase from last year’s attendance of 340.

The program, established in 2009, acts as an entry point into a network of resources for families when concerns of abuse or neglect exist. The team conducts assessments of infants to 17-year-olds on behalf of law and social service agencies to determine the nature of the problem.

Salmon Creek Hospital Foundation is currently engaged in a three-year, $1.2 million campaign to support the Child Abuse Assessment Team. To make a donation, call 360-487-3457.
