In one hour, four separate accidents created a mess for Vancouver commuters Thursday afternoon on Interstate 205.

Traffic was backed up for about two hours on I-205 northbound from State Highway 500 to the Glenn Jackson Bridge.

The first accident was reported at 2:27 p.m. on I-205 northbound, just south of State Highway 500. A vehicle rolled onto its top, landing in the center median, said Washington State Patrol Trooper Will Finn.

After traffic started clogging on both sides of the interstate, a second northbound collision was reported at 2:55 p.m. Three cars crashed on the left shoulder near the exit to Mill Plain Boulevard.

Another three-vehicle accident was reported at 3:08 p.m. near the on-ramp from Mill Plain Boulevard, also on the left shoulder of the northbound interstate.

The fourth collision, involving two vehicles, was reported at 3:22 p.m. on the eastbound State Highway 500 exit to southbound I-205.

Finn advised motorists to take Interstate 5 instead, pay attention and create safe following distances. Ramps near I-205 were also backed up while emergency responders worked to clear all of the accidents.

Eastbound 500 was temporarily backed up from the exit to I-205 southbound to Burnt Bridge Creek.

No injuries were reported at any of the crash sites.
