Camas officials announced today that the city’s top administrator is on medical leave.

According to a statement from Humane Resources Director Jennifer Gorsuch, Nina Regor, who started work as city administrator in January, is on medical leave “for the foreseeable future.”

“We want her to focus on her health issues and on getting better,” Gorsuch said.

The exact amount of time she will be absent has not been determined.

“Further discussions are taking place related to the city bringing in some outside assistance,” Gorsuch said. “[Mayor Scott Higgins] may have more on that decision soon and information will be released as soon as possible after that has been finalized.”

City officials declined to release additional information about Regor’s condition.

Gorsuch, who has worked for the city since August 2005, has been named the acting city administrator in Regor’s absence. She will handle day-to-day activities and operations for the city.

Regor most recently attended the Sept. 16 City Council meeting and workshop.

Prior to being hired by Camas at the end of 2012, Regor, 51, had previously worked as the city manager of Cloverdale, Calif., since 2007. In 2003, she was hired as the deputy city manager for the City of Spokane Valley, Wash., and helped get the city started following its incorporation. She also worked for the City of Gresham, Ore., from 1991 to 2003, during which time she was the assistant city manager from 1993 to 2003, executive assistant to the city manager from 1992 to 1993, and a budget analyst from 1991 to 1992.

Regor was born in Clark County.
