The U.S. Army Reserve’s 915th Forward Surgical Team will have a unit farewell ceremony at 3 p.m. Saturday in preparation for its upcoming deployment to Afghanistan.

The event will take place at the Armed Forces Reserve Center, 15005 N.E. 65th St., just south of Fourth Plain Boulevard and Ward Road.

This will be the third deployment for the unit, which had previously deployed in 2003 and 2009 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The deployment is expected to last for nine months to a year.

The 915th is one of several reserve units based in Vancouver.
