Small fire reported at Vancouver port

Pipe insulation burns at Subaru import facility

A small fire reportedly burned some pipe insulation this morning at a Subaru of America auto import facility at the the Port of Vancouver.

The fire was reported about 11 a.m. at 3309 N.W. Gateway Ave., which is the address of the import facility. The facility consists of a dock, a large parking area, a building, and an area where imported Subarus can be loaded on trucks and rail cars.

The fire was apparently in some pipe insulation in a building. Workers put out most of the fire before Vancouver firefighters arrived, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.
