Battle Ground librarian candidates meet public Wednesday

Three candidates for the position of Battle Ground community librarian will meet the public from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. The meet-and-greet session will be in the fireplace/reading room area of the library, 1207 S.E. Eighth Way in Battle Ground Village.The Battle Ground position opened when Jackie Spurlock began work Monday as manager of the Vancouver Community Library. Both are part of the Fort Vancouver Regional Library. Spurlock succeeds Karin Ford, who will focus on her district-level responsibilities as public services director.

The three candidates for the Battle Ground job are: Sue Barrows, collection development librarian at Fort Vancouver Regional Library headquarters; Jewell Foederer, circulation supervisor at Three Creeks Community Library; and Kim McNally, reference librarian at Vancouver Community Library.

Each candidate will make a brief presentation. Comment forms will be available to provide feedback. The district expects to have the Battle Ground librarian in place by early October.Spurlock became branch manager at Battle Ground Community Library in 2001, after three years as assistant manager.
