Cascade Highlands — Volunteerism has led to a bunch of aesthetic improvements around the neighborhood, according to a recent Cascade Highlands newsletter. For one thing, the periphery fence around Homestead Place, a housing development at the southeast border of Homestead Neighborhood Park, has been significantly spruced up — with new paint that matches the adjacent Homestead Acres development, as well as contrasting paint on some of the horizontal top boards and ball toppers. Plus, volunteers from Hewlett-Packard helped neighbors trim hedges on 159th Place and in Homestead Park. The only downside was discovering a nest of bees. Three people got stung so now, the newsletter concludes, “If you look carefully, you can see a small portion of the hedge which is not trimmed because it belongs to the bees!”
