Oakland Athletics playoff fever … catch it.

The AL West-leading Oakland Athletics sold out the normal Coliseum seating for the playoffs so fast Tuesday they have decided to open up additional seating in the third deck view level by removing the green tarps over those sections.

With approximately 12,000 extra seats available, the capacity will go from 35,067 to 48,146.

Tickets for three potential AL division series games to be played next month at the Coliseum sold out in two hours Tuesday, prompting the decision.

So coach, tell us how you really feel.

An audio of Nebraska coach Bo Pelini’s 2011 tirade leaked to the website Deadspin has Big Red fans buzzing.

The Deadspin audio caught Pelini speaking off air with Husker Sports Network play-by-play man Greg Sharpe and associate athletic director for community relations Chris Anderson.

Pelini criticized fans who left the stadium in the third quarter, when the Huskers trailed 27-6. Nebraska’s comeback was the biggest in program history.

It’s just a reminder — When you’re a big-time college coach, you’re “on” even when you’re off.

There is a chance that the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will be moved to the winter in order to avoid the average daily temperatures of 110 degrees.

(Guess no one thought of this when they were awarding Qatar the Cup in the first place.)

One entity clearly against this would be Fox Sports, which owns the rights to televise the tourney.

The rest of the world will watch soccer any time, any place. Fox is not so sure about Americans.

Fox paid a lot of money for summer programming. Fox did not pay for soccer in December or January, going up against the NFL.
