Try This: Woodcarvers shape wildlife

Discover the art of decoys as they float in the fountain at the Columbia Flyway Wildlife Show. Ninety artists from around the country will show their art during the 26th annual juried woodcarving competition and display. You can meet the carvers and their realistic wildlife sculptures and bird decoys. Children’s activities include painting a songbird from 1 to 3 p.m. today.

When: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

2. Quaff a new brew

Drink This returns with another evening tour of local beverage-makers as they show off their craft with special food and drink tastings. The event will include five wineries, seven breweries, five coffee roasters, a tea blender, a cidery and for the first time, a distillery. There will be walking maps at every location; tasting fees may apply.

3. History at twilight

The 30th annual Campfires and Candlelight event will offer visitors a chance to interact with local history, as 150 re-enactors present different time periods at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. Visitors can try their hand at old-fashion laundry washing and ax-throwing or listen to the crack of black powder weapons. Inside the fort stockade, learn more from historic characters as they re-enact the night of Sept. 13, 1846, when the Hudson’s Bay Company came to the aid of the USS Shark.

4. Folksy fun

Clark County Folk Festival will fill a new location at the Moulton Falls Winery with classic acoustic sounds. Visitors can hear performances by Dan Weber, the Benign Band, Three Together, Sky in the Road, Tom May and Jeanne Walker. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society’s North Clark Relay for Life.

When: 1 to 7 p.m. today.

Where: Moulton Falls Winery, 31101 N.E. Railroad Ave., Yacolt.

Admission: $10, free for children ages 12 and younger.

5. Darkly comic ‘Family’

When a notorious Mafia clan is relocated to Normandy, France, under the witness protection program, the clan finds it hard to blend in. Fred (Robert De Niro), his wife, Maggie (Michelle Pfeiffer), and their two teenage children, Belle (Dianna Agron) and Warren (John D’Leo), handle normal annoyances the “family” way, alerting Fred’s former Mafia cronies to their whereabouts. “The Family” is rated R.
