In recognition of National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month, Clark County’s Substance Abuse Advisory Board will host the 12th annual Clark County Recovery Forum from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at Crossroads Community Church, 7708 N.E. 78th St.

The event kicks off with free music, food, beverages and exhibits at 5 p.m.

At a 6 p.m. program, local residents will share their stories of recovery from addiction. Also, Clark County Commissioners Tom Mielke and David Madore, Sheriff Garry Lucas, and Vancouver City Councilor Larry Smith will speak. Cleve Thompson, the county’s longtime drug and alcohol program manager who retired in 2011, will be honored with a lifetime achievement award, and former Commissioner Marc Boldt and the Rev. Dave White of New Life Friends Church will be honored with appreciation awards.

Transportation is available. A Crossroads Church bus will pick up riders at 4:15-4:30 p.m. at Lord’s Gym/New Life Friends Church, 2410 Grand Blvd., and at the C-Tran bus mall on the north side of Westfield Vancouver mall. Riders will be dropped off at both locations after the event.
