A man died Monday morning when he jumped from the Glenn Jackson Bridge and landed on Southeast Evergreen Highway below.
Washington State Patrol received a call about a man sitting on the guardrail on the bridge at 7:24 a.m. A witness reportedly stopped and approached the man, but “as he approached, the guy jumped,” said Dan Coon, the agency’s spokesman.
Evergreen Highway was closed for about an hour.
The man had parked his van on the Washington side of the bridge, though the vehicle had Oregon plates, Coon said.
The man’s name was not released Tuesday.
The case was forwarded to the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office who will work to identify the man and notify next of kin.
