WASHOUGAL — Consider the new turf at Fishback Stadium broken in.
Washougal rushed for 276 yards to christen its new home playing surface with a 35-0 win over Hudson’s Bay on Friday.
But defense is what had the Panther’s sideline fired up most of the evening. Washougal allowed only 108 yards.
“Our defense is something we’re able to hang our hat on this year,” Washougal coach Bob Jacobs said.
While Washougal hopes Friday’s nonleague win serves as a springboard, Hudson’s Bay will treat the game as a learning experience. Eagles coach Sylvester Green is trying to turn around the program after going winless last season.
