About 30 union activists occupied a classroom event being held at Clark College’s Columbia Tech Center campus in east Vancouver on Thursday evening until police were called in to disperse the crowd.
Protesters tried to block attendance to the Northwest Employee Freedom One Night Event, a talk about labor reform hosted by Portland-based think tank the Cascade Policy Institute and the Olympia-based Freedom Foundation.
Vancouver police said one person was arrested for trespassing. Vancouver Police Department Sgt. Kathy McNicholas, a spokeswoman, did not release the protester’s name.
Event organizer Tina Pisenti said the protest delayed the event, which was set to start at 7 p.m., and ended up starting at 7:30 p.m.
