The Evergreen Plainsmen rolled up 500 yards of offense in a season-opening 56-20 win over Fort Vancouver on Friday at Kiggins Bowl.
Justin Straup ran for 140 yards, 109 of them and four touchdowns in the first half as Evergreen quickly took command.
The Plainsmen scored four touchdowns in the first quarter. They recovered a fumble on the opening kickoff and led 8-0 just 1:02 into the game on a 10-yard Straup scoring run that capped a four-play, 25-yard possession.
Rey Green scored on an 18-yard run on the second Evergreen possession, and Robert Akil scored from 5 yards out after another Fort fumble making it 23-0 just 5:23 into the game.
