Week 1 notes

TOP-RANKED MATCH-UP: Camas is ranked No. 1 in Class 4A by the Tacoma News Tribune, Seattle Times and TNT coaches polls. The Papermakers will face Jesuit of Portland, the top-ranked 6A team in Oregon.

LEAGUE PLAY ALREADY: With nine teams in the league, the 1A Trico League starts the season with league games, but between the top four teams from last season: Toledo at Stevenson, La Center at Ilwaco, Woodland at Kalama and Seton Catholic at Castle Rock.

BRAND NEW TURF: Washougal’s Fishback Stadium and Ridgefield District Stadium had new playing surfaces installed over the summer and will host Week 1 games: Hudson’s Bay at Washougal and Rochester at Ridgefield.

KING’S WAY AT HOME: King’s Way Christian played a game on its new home field late last season. They’ll open at home at 6 p.m. Saturday against Oakville.
