To honor those who died in terrorist attacks 12 years ago, East County Fire and Rescue will hold its annual 9/11 Ceremony of Remembrance on Sept. 11.
This year, the event will include a ribbon-cutting and dedication of a granite memorial that was donated by the America for Youth Foundation and a group of area motorcyclists.
The dedication is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m., followed by the lighting of luminaria at 8 p.m. At that time, a group will read the names of the first responders who died during the Sept. 11 attacks.
The public is also invited to attend the fourth annual spaghetti dinner from 5:30 to 7 p.m., also at Station 91, 600 N.E. 267th Ave. The event is hosted by the East County Volunteer Firefighter Association. Donations for the dinner will benefit the Northwest Burn Foundation, a Seattle-based nonprofit that serves burn survivors and their families in five states.
