Knuckleheads rock out for kids buying produce

Salmon Creek — Aug. 22 was Kids Day at the Salmon Creek Farmers Market, with 12 young “guest vendors” selling everything from produce to sweets to crafts — like homemade dog toys, hair accessories and even a sweet marshmallow shooter. Entertainment was provided by rockin’ fifth-graders Curly and the Knuckleheads, who offered up an acoustic set and collected $62 in donations for Produce Pals. That’s a program offering $2 tokens to kids so they can buy their own produce at the market. Market organizer Ann Foster said there are more than 500 kids enrolled in Produce Pals. “We were thrilled” at how well the day went, Foster said.
