The Camas-Washougal Economic Development Association is involved in a video project, designed to showcase the area to prospective tenants of office and industrial spaces.
“The intent of these videos is to present them to business and industry leaders looking to locate in the Camas-Washougal area,” said CWEDA President Paul Dennis. “I can tell them about the size and type of buildings and land available, but it is more difficult to explain the quality of life here. These short videos will do just that.”
One video will focus on Camas, and one will concentrate on Washougal. Another video will include both communities.
The process involved a director and producer from Los Angeles and a crew from Portland. The producer, Anita Lugliani, had previously lived in Camas for 14 years.
The total project cost is around $34,000.
Film locations so far have included Cottonwood Beach and the Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge.
“We also shot in downtown Washougal, talking to a number of businesses there including Lulu’s Boutique and Body Bliss Yoga,” Dennis said. “We also filmed at the [pedestrian] tunnel and Steamboat Landing.”
The crew has also been to the Port of Camas-Washougal Industrial Park to interview Steve Carroll, owner of Watercare Industrial Services, and John Anderson and his family at Foods in Season. Leonard Felix of CID Bio-Science, Ken Fisher of Fisher Investments and Matt Olson of Robertson & Olson Construction were also interviewed.
The project includes footage of Lacamas Lake, Grove Field Airport, the Washougal River, Karcher North America and an interview with Charlie Bishop, vice president of mill operations at Pendleton Woolen Mills.
The Camas Farmer’s Market, Mill City Brew Werks and Runyan’s Jewelry were additional stops for the film crew.
In July, they filmed the Washougal Motocross and Camas Days. On Friday, Sept. 6, they plan to shoot footage of the Camas and Jesuit high school football game at Doc Harris Stadium.
The CWEDA videos will also feature interviews with Dennis, Washougal Mayor Sean Guard, Camas Mayor Scott Higgins and Port of C-W Commissioner Mark Lampton.
The Camas version will be showcased at a State of the Community event Tuesday, Sept. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the CHS Theatre, 26900 S.E. 15th St.
The event will include presentations from the City of Camas, Camas School District and Port of Camas-Washougal, followed by an open house with elected officials.
The C-W videos will be featured online at www.cweda.org and in a digital magazine that is being worked on by students at Washington State University-Vancouver.
