La Center and Woodland — Justin Keeler, the Fort Vancouver Regional Library District community librarian for La Center and Woodland, went to Port Townsend in mid-October for a week of “cultivating leadership skills in library staff,” he said, via the Pacific Northwest Library Association’s Leadership Institute. The semiannual institute includes a small number of invited participants — this year, it was 32 — selected through a competitive process. Keeler said the week focused on difficult real-world and interpersonal situations, and leadership techniques “that would be effective in any personal, work or civic arena.”
