After word got out earlier this month that the Inter-Faith Treasure House was experiencing a shortage at its food bank, the community has stepped forward to lend a hand.
Among the contributors are the non-profit group Camas-Washougal Community Chest, which has provided $5,000 to support the Treasure House food bank.
“The Community Chest came through today with an emergency grant for $5,000 to purchase food,” said Nancy Wilson, Treasure House executive director. “Amazing. We are so grateful, and this will help get us through to the holiday season when everyone is aware of hunger and in the giving spirit.”
Other local businesses and organizations have also held, or are in the process of holding food drives to benefit the Treasure House. Some of them include the Liberty Theatre and Squeeze and Grind coffee shop, as well as Camas Parks and Recreation through its Family Halloween Night event on Oct. 19.
