Brandon Van Pelt of Stevenson was voted The Columbian’s high school football player of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Oct. 26.
Van Pelt collected 32 percent of the 3,018 votes cast by fans to beat out Jason Bracken of Prairie and Zac Schomler of Skyview, both of whom had 27 percent.
Van Pelt completed 16 of 38 passes for 402 yards and two touchdowns and he rushed for 52 yards and a TD in a loss at Rochester.
The other nominees were Nolan Henry of Union and Garrett Jones of Mountain View.
Nominees and the online ballot are posted at www.360preps.com each Saturday and voting continues until 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Players may be elected player of the week once per month, and no player can be nominated for the honor in consecutive weeks.
