A man was transported to a local hospital Monday afternoon after his pickup went off the road and into Burnt Bridge Creek.

The crash was reported at 4:19 p.m. on Southeast 137th Avenue, south of Fourth Plain Road, in east Vancouver. The pickup landed on the bank of the creek, but early reports did not indicate how much of it was submerged, said Kim Kapp, spokeswoman for the Vancouver Police Department.

The top of the truck had to be cut off to rescue the man, who was transported to a local hospital. His name and condition were not available Monday night.

The collision caused a significant traffic backup on 137th. Part of the roadway was closed while the pickup was pulled out of the creek and police investigated the cause of the crash.
