Talking Points: Please no showboating

What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:

1

Sorry, Seahawks fans, but we have to take exception to Golden Tate’s showboating on Monday night.

You don’t start waving goodbye to your opponent when you are still 30 yards from the end zone.

Sure, Tate was flagged for the taunting, but it would have been more appropriate for the TD to not have been allowed and the football placed at the point where Tate began his taunt.

Tate’s wallet might be lighter after this week.

The NBA season opens today and the Miami Heat are overwhelming favorites to win it all again.

LeBron James did say the Heat would win “not two, not three, not four, not five …” NBA titles when he left Cleveland and took his talents to South Beach three years ago.

Other than the loss to the Dallas Mavericks in the 2011 Finals, James has been dead-on with his prediction.

The glory days of tennis will be on display tonight in ESPN’s 30 for 30 film “This is What They Want.”

Jimmy Connors was a fan favorite. He was also not loved by many who played against him. He uttered that now-famous line “This is what they want” during his run at the 1991 U.S. Open.

Love him or hate him, Connors was a dominating force in tennis for three decades, and this film will bring it all back.
