Taylor Leier scored the go-ahead goal late in the second period and goalie Brendan Burke made it hold up as the Portland Winterhawks wrapped up their five-game road trip with a 4-3 win in Spokane on Saturday against the Chiefs.
It capped a perfect 5-0 road trip for the Hawks (11-3-0-1), and was also their eighth straight win, moving them into first place in the Western Hockey League Western Conference.
Portland built a 3-1 lead after Oliver Bjorkstrand’s power-play goal early in the second period.
Spokane (11-4-0-0) then scored twice in a span of 5 1/2 minutes to tie the game at 3-3.
