Senior Night pregame ceremonies at Hockinson ended on a high note Friday when the Hawks honored their No. 1 fan.
A quartet of players presented Colton Viola, a developmentally disabled senior who has been a constant presence on the Hockinson sideline the past four years, with a letterman’s jacket.
Viola proudly donned the jacket, then with a smile as bright as the four gold footballs adorning the “H,” he high-fived his way down a gauntlet of players and cheerleaders.
“He’s one of our biggest supporters, and he’s definitely a part of our team,” said senior lineman Nick Lines, who helped organize the moment. “We wanted to do something special for him to let him know we love him.”

Alexa Efraimson’s cross country victory at the Bill Dellinger Invitational on Oct. 5 brought her some fame and some trouble.
As documented this past week on these pages, the trouble came from whether or not participating in the collegiate race would hurt her high school eligibility. It initally did, however, Efraimson successfully appealed to the WIAA and went on to win the 4A district cross country title for Camas on Wednesday.
The fame portion of Efraimson’s running accomplishments comes Monday when Sports Illustrated hits the newsstands. Efraimson is among the “Faces in the Crowd” section of magazine, which highlights outstanding amateur athletes across the country.
