An early Halloween event for military families is scheduled Saturday afternoon at the Armed Forces Reserve Center, 15005 N.E. 65th St.

The “Trunk or Treat” session, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., will be one of four across the state Saturday organized by the Washington National Guard’s Joint Services Support program.

Children whose parents are in the military will be able to do their trick-or-treating in the reserve center’s parking lot, with car owners distributing treats from their trunks.

Local supporters of veterans and military members also are using the event as an opportunity for a classic car cruise-in, with live entertainment and music.
