Esther Short — Serendipity Players, the Vancouver theater company that’s focused on edgy, up-to-date material like “The Laramie Project” (about the murder of a gay college student in Wyoming) and “In White America” (a review of black history), has left its home of the past two years, a small storefront theater at 500 Washington St. The plan now is to “return to our roots,” according to a statement on the Serendipity website. “During the next year, we’re going to be performing in various locations in the greater Vancouver area. We’ll do our best to match the location to the play that we’re performing,” it says. The next Serendipity production will be a dinner theater double bill, opening on Nov. 1 at El Presidente Mexican restaurant: “Check Please” by Jonathan Rand and “Coffee with God” by Kal Wagenheim.
