Longtime Clark County economic development advocate Bart Phillips has been hired as the first chief executive officer for the newly formed OneRedmond, a position he will start on Nov. 1.
OneRedmond is a private-public partnership that will provide economic development services to the Puget Sound-area’s greater east side – primarily the cities of Redmond, Bellevue, Kirkland and Bothell – by attracting new businesses to the region and helping existing businesses expand and grow.
Phillips, 57, has served as vice president of economic development with Innovate Washington, a state-led economic development entity, since December 2011. Before that, he served for 10 years as president of the Columbia River Economic Development Council, Southwest Washington’s premier business recruitment group. His replacement, Lisa Nisenfeld, resigned from the position in September, appointed by Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber to lead Oregon’s Employment Department,
On Tuesday, Mike Bomar, a local building industry advocate, was named president of the 160-member CREDC.
