Orchards — Christ Community church’s new pastor is excited after a year of training to be able to lead his flock. Eli Thomas completed his yearlong vicar training at the end of summer and was ordained on Sept. 29. He officially began at Christ Community in Vancouver on Oct. 13.

Thomas grew up in the Seattle area and has a bachelor’s degree in biblical literature from Northwest University in Kirkland and a Master of Divinity degree from Faith Evangelical College and Seminary in Tacoma.

“We seek to be a non-traditional Lutheran church, concerned for the well-being of our neighbors and committed to serving them to the best of our abilities,” Thomas wrote in an email.
