VANCOUVER — At the annual Bat Talk program at Washington State University Vancouver, families can learn about commonly held misconceptions about bats and view live bats close up.
Christine Portfors, associate professor of biological science and neuroscience at WSUV, will host the Bat Talk from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the Dengerink Administration Building, Room 110. This is a free, public event.
Portfors presents this program every year near Halloween. She will dispel popular folklore and will discuss the beneficial roles bats play in the ecosystem. Visitors can view live bats from Portfors’ lab. Kids’ craft activities will round out the afternoon.
The campus is at 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave. Weekend parking is free.
