Portland police and the Crime Stoppers of Oregon program announced Monday that a $1,000 reward is being offered to help bring a suspect in a taxi cab-jacking to justice.
The June 4 incident occurred in downtown Portland, and the stolen cab was later recovered in Vancouver.
According to police, the driver of a Broadway Cab was accosted 9:05 p.m. on the Morrison Street Bridge. The suspect ran up to the cab, which was stopped in traffic, jumped into the passenger seat, and began assaulting him. The cabbie got out of the car to defend himself when the assailant slid behind the wheel and drove away.
Three paying passengers in the cab got out of the back seat before the thief fled with the cab.
