Third teen arrested in gang riot

A Vancouver teen appeared Friday in Clark County Superior Court on accusations he participated in an April gang assault and robbery of two male victims outside a Vancouver apartment complex.

Raul G. Marquez, 18, was held on $75,000 bail. He faces charges of second-degree assault, first-degree robbery and riot with a weapon at his Oct. 24 arraignment. Superior Court Judge Robert Lewis appointed Vancouver attorney Gregg Schile to defend Marquez.

Marquez is one of three defendants so far in the case. The others are William Tillmon, 19, and J.N. Tosi, 18, both of Vancouver.

They are accused of attacking and robbing two male victims April 19 as they walked in front of the Evergreen Village Apartments, 2501 N.E. 138th Ave., in Vancouver. The suspects allegedly were armed with baseball bats, bottles, rocks or knives. The victims’ ages were not disclosed in court records.

One of the victims said Marquez struck him over the head with a glass bottle and then stole a skateboard from him, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in court. The victim identified Marquez in a photo laydown, the affidavit says.

Tillmon and Tosi are accused of attacking the other victim with a baseball bat and taking his backpack. Tosi, who also is accused of shattering a third victim’s vehicle window, is scheduled to go to trial Dec. 2. Tillmon’s trial is set for Nov. 4.

Marquez, Tosi and Tillmon are accused of being members of the Real Money Hustlers street gang, which is closely associated with the Crip and Sureno gangs. The group claims the general area of Northeast 138th Avenue and Northeast 28th Street as its territory, according to court documents.
