LA CENTER — The La Center Police Department, through a partnership with Project Child Safe, is offering free gunlocks and safety pamphlets at its police station, 105 W. Fifth St.

The program aims to remind gun owners to properly store firearms in the home by making sure they’re not easily accessible to anyone, especially a child.

The gunlocks are cable style and require most firearms to be unloaded before they’re stored. The firearm safety pamphlet explains the importance of safe handling and secure storage.
