Soup dinner helps Share raise $32,500

Share’s 12th annual Share-a-Bowl soup dinner raised $32,500 Saturday to support programs and services for the hungry and homeless.

About 380 people dined on soups prepared by three local chefs at the Clark County Events Center at the Fairgrounds.

Share also recognized Robert Harland as volunteer of the year.

After sampling all three soups, diners voted Mark Wornson’s entry as winner of the People’s Choice Award. Wornson, of Tommy O’s, made “Roasted Chicken and Butternut Squash with a Hint of Curry.”

Harland received the Emily Marshall Volunteer of the Year Award for his dedicated service over the past three years. It includes helping families fill out holiday wish lists and mentoring a person during the transition to self-sufficiency.

He also helped Share move into the Fromhold Service Center, which included coordinating volunteers to paint the interior and buying paint at a discount.

Austin Chang, Riley Aten and Simple Faith Cavalry Church also were nominated.
