That’s the night that the lights went out at Kiggins.
That’s the night Camas hung a 47 on the Storm.
Don’t trust your soul to no backwoods lighting system.
Cause the home team did not want to see this anymore.
Apologies to Vicki Lawrence, Reba McEntire and that whole lights going out in Georgia song, but this was one bizarre Friday night at Kiggins Bowl.
The Camas Papermakers put up 47 points in the first half, and the game was played under running clock rules in the second half of a 47-12 victory over the Skyview Storm in the opener of Class 4A Greater St. Helens League play.
The clock did stop, though, for about 15 minutes when the lights went out.
“It gave me a heart attack,” said Camas sophomore Jared Bentley, who was returning a punt and was almost at full speed with it got real dark.
“I just dropped to the ground. I didn’t know what to do,” Bentley said. “I thought something weird was going on. I thought a sniper was out to get me.”
