A guide boat fisherman found a body in the North Fork of the Lewis River on Saturday morning. The body is presumed to be that of Thadius M. Roberts, a kayak fisherman from Kelso who went missing on the river one week earlier, according to a statement from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s deputies went at 8 a.m. Saturday to the Cedar Creek Boat Ramp off Etna Road, on the North Fork, after a fisherman reported seeing a body floating in the water. The body was recovered in a back eddy just downstream from the Cedar Creek ramp.
The adult male body matches the description of Thadius M. Roberts, 32, who went kayak fishing with friends on the North Fork on the afternoon of Sept. 28.
Roberts was noticed missing at around dusk.
His companions couldn’t locate him and reported him missing at around 10 p.m.; sheriff’s deputies, Marine Patrol and Clark County Fire and Rescue conducted a water and shoreline search and found his kayak floating unoccupied.
