Four-car crash on I-5 sends Brush Prairie man to hospital

A four-car crash Friday morning on Interstate 5 sent a Brush Prairie man to the hospital with injuries.

The four vehicles were traveling south in the highway’s left lane when the first three vehicles came to a quick stop near Mill Plain Boulevard, according to a Washington State Patrol press release.

A 1993 Ford Aerostar, which was traveling behind the other three cars, struck the rear end of the car immediately in front of it, a 1989 Toyota Corolla, according to the release. The Corolla then crashed into a 2007 Volkswagen Beetle, which then crashed into a 2003 Ford F-250 pickup, state patrol said.

The crash was reported at 6:15 a.m. and the left lane of the interstate was blocked for about an hour.

The driver of the Beetle, John J. Green, 65, of Brush Prairie was treated and released later Friday morning from PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.

The Aerostar, Corolla and Beetle were totaled and the pickup sustained reportable damage.

The driver of the Aerostar, Kenneth L. Cushman, 45, of Vancouver, was cited for allegedly following too closely.
