Soul and blues vocalist Linda Hornbuckle will join the Trail Band for a special performance by the eight-piece ensemble. “Making Spirits Bright” is the 10th annual benefit concert for the Salmon Creek Kiwanis Club. The Trail Band is best known for original and traditional arrangements that combine string and brass instruments, from tubas and fiddles to hammer dulcimers and penny whistles.

2. Run for fun
The fourth annual Hot Buttered Run will begin and end at Esther Short Park, kicking off the holiday season with a 12K, 5K and Kids Kandy Kane Race, with hot buttered rums and hot chocolates for a post-race celebration. The race will support the Festival of the Trees and Race to Remember.

Journey Theatre Arts Group presents “Thoroughly Modern Millie Jr.,” following the adventures of Millie Dillmount as she moves to jazz-infused New York City in search of a new exciting life. As women enter the workforce, Millie embraces the “modern” lifestyle of the flappers in hopes of catching the eye of a wealthy socialite. Recommended for ages 8 and older.

4. Decorated wonder
Explore the decorated Christmas trees in the “Forest of Wonder” at the 18th annual Vancouver Rotary Festival of Trees. Visitors can meet the Talking Tree, go on a family scavenger hunt, enjoy musical performances, tour the holiday Vancouver Farmers Market and meet with Santa during the festival. The 11 themed trees will be raffled at 4 p.m. Sunday, after a Sunday Tea featuring the Magenta Improv Theater that starts at 2 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Vancouver Rotary Foundation, which provides scholarships and grants to the community.
