The Gifford Pinchot Task Force, a Vancouver-based nonprofit, on Friday announced a partnership with an energy-focused environmental group to explore new uses of wood waste.

The task force will join forces with the Northwest Advanced Renewables Alliance to look into converting wood biomass to “biojet” fuel. NARA, headed by Washington State University, also counts the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Boeing among its major partners.

The Gifford Pinchot Task Force will help analyze the project’s viability as researchers work to develop efficient fuels from a variety of wood-based sources.
