OLYMPIA — Attorney General Bob Ferguson has named a new open government ombudsman.
Ferguson announced Monday that he had hired a lawyer for the state Public Disclosure Commission for the job. Nancy Kreier starts next month.
The position, created in 2005, was moved to a halftime role in 2011 due to budget challenges. Former ombudsman Tim Ford left the position recently to work for a Senate committee.
Ferguson announced in September that he was going to make the position full time again. Ferguson said Kreier worked as a reporter before studying law at the University of Washington and then working in the attorney general’s licensing division and at the PDC.
