The Washington State Board of Education on Friday unanimously voted to adopt an anti-bullying resolution, following a presentation two student board members made about the effects of bullying upon learning.
Student board members Mara Childs and Eli Ulmer gave the presentation about how students can be part of the solution in curbing all forms of bullying.
“The ways in which kids interact with each other are changing quickly and it is hard for adults to keep up,” Childs said. “(Social) media, texts and instant messages are a recipe for bullying. Kids are ahead of the game when it comes to technology and they hold the most weight in changing student behavior.”
The resolution follows an anti-bullying resolution that began circulating in September.
