A Ridgefield man was arrested after police found marijuana in his car following a Tuesday evening crash in the Orchards area.
Lee Leslie, 40, was allegedly the driver who caused a four-vehicle collision on state Highway 503 and Northeast 99th Street during Tuesday’s rush hour. Trooper Will Finn, spokesman for the Washington State Patrol, did not know how the crash occurred. Leslie had a first-degree revoked license.
During the impound of the Ford pickup he was driving, troopers found a small amount of marijuana, Finn said. Leslie later produced an expired medical marijuana license.
Police contacted the truck’s registered owner, who was out of town. After a police K-9 dog sniffed the vehicle and picked up a scent, troopers applied for a warrant to search the vehicle. During the search, they found 4 ounces of marijuana, which is over the legal limit of 1 ounce, Finn said.
