The Clark College men’s soccer team wrapped up the NWAACC South division title weeks ago.
Now the Penguins have a bigger goal in mind as they enter NWAACC tournament play.
Clark (17-2-1) hosts Spokane (13-5-3) at 2 p.m. today at Clark College in the quarterfinal round.
The winner moves on to the final four next week at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila.
Clark, ranked No. 2 in the NWAACC coaches poll, is on a seven-match win streak and has yielded just two goals during the streak.
Clark freshman Bernardino Ayala-Jimenez is No. 2 in the NWAACC in goals scored with 26.
Spokane defeated Tacoma 1-0 in a first-round match to advance.
Clark and Spokane have met this season, playing to a 3-3 tie on Sept. 7 at Spokane.
Admission is $5 or free for Clark students, faculty and staff.
Cross country
Clark College is also the host for the NWAACC Championships at Lewisville Park in Battle Ground.
The 5,000-meter women’s race will begin at 11 a.m. and the 8,000-meter men’s race at noon.
The Spokane men have won 11 of the last 12 team titles. The Everett women have won the last two titles.
Defending women’s individual champ Jessica Mildes returns for Everett.
Volleyball
West Division leading Highline defeated Clark in four tight games Friday. Scores were 25-23, 25-19, 23-25, 25-18.
Clark falls to 12-17 overall, 5-7 West Division, fifth place.
Highline (11-1) has a one-game lead over Tacoma for the division lead.
