They’ve met twice in league play, once for the Trico League Championship, and on Saturday, Woodland and Kalama will face off for the District 4 championship in volleyball.
Woodland advanced to the district final by posting 3-0 victories over Tenino and King’s Way Christian.
Kalama beat Seton Catholic and La Center, both in three sets, to reach the final. La Center was led by Alyssa Carnes’ 10 kills and nine blocks.
La Center needs to win two loser-out matches on Saturday to clinch a state berth. La Center will face Tenino at 10 a.m.
Seton Catholic beat Hoquiam in loser-out match and advanced to play King’s Way Christian in another loser-out match on Saturday. The La Center-Hoquiam winner and Seton-King’s Way winner will play for the berth to state.
Girls soccer
Hockinson will play at Tumwater at 7 p.m. Thursday in a loser-out match in the Class 2A district playoffs.
Hockinson lost 4-3 to Black Hills. Gabrielle Burrell had two goals and Rylee Seekins added a third as the Hawks tried to rally from a 4-0 deficit. Sydnie Cole-Vogler and Makayla Meisner had assists. Details of Tuesday’s match were incorrectly reported in Wednesday’s edition of The Columbian.
