Clark County — Beautiful colors. Loads of yard work. That’s autumn.
It’s not just work for homeowners — it can also mean maintenance workers unclogging storm drains and dealing with street flooding and other hazards.
To make everyone’s life a little easier, Clark County and the city of Vancouver are urging residents not to pile leaves in the streets. Instead, residents of the city and the unincorporated county can print out a coupon and dispose of them for free at any of four local sites:
• City Bark, 2419 N.E. Andresen Road,
• H & H Wood Recyclers, 8401 N.E. 117th Ave.,
• McFarlane’s Bark, 8806 N.E. 117th Ave.
• West Van Materials Recovery Center, 6601 N.W. Old Lower River Road.
The coupons are valid through Dec. 20 and can be printed via the county’s website, www.clark.wa.gov/environment, or the city’s site, www.cityofvancouver.us/solidwaste, where there’s also a video about leaf disposal and street sweeping. Free disposal is offered only for leaves, not assorted yard debris. You will have to empty leaves from the bags you put them in.
This offer is intended only for residents of Vancouver and unincorporated Clark County — not the county’ssmaller cities. But good options available to everyone include using leaves as winter mulch or disposing of them in your Waste Connections yard debris box.
Call Clark County Public Works at 360-397-2446 to report clogged stormwater drains or flooding outside of city limits. Call Vancouver Public Works at 360-487-8177 to report problems inside the city.
