A 43-year-old man suspected of stealing four moving trucks, including one in Vancouver, was arrested Wednesday morning by police in a rural area just outside of Seattle.

A U-Haul moving van with an attached Acura sedan was stolen from an apartment complex off Mill Plain Boulevard on April 28, said Vancouver police Cmdr. Dave King.

According to Seattle police, the thefts started New Years Eve. Each moving van was found empty and abandoned in Renton.

Detectives with the Seattle Police Department’s Auto Theft and Major Crimes units identified the suspect after someone unknowingly purchased stolen computer equipment and then realized it was stolen after seeing a local news story about the thefts. Police tracked down the suspect to his red barn in Renton.

King said the Vancouver Police Department does not yet have the man’s identity, though the agency is continuing to investigate.
