College Notebook: Adamko, Thomas end seasons at regional

Anna Adamko and Emily Thomas concluded their track and field seasons at last weekend’s NCAA Division I West Preliminary outdoor track and field championships in Austin, Texas.

Washington State University sophomore Adamko placed 14th in the javelin. The Columbia River High School graduate’s mark was 154 feet, 9 inches. The top 12 finishers advance to nationals on June 3-5 in Eugene. The 12th place mark was 155-5.

Gonzaga University junior Thomas placed 19th in the 10,000 meters. The Camas High School graduate finished in 36 minutes, 1.23 seconds. The top 12 finishers advance to nationals. The 12th place time was 35:14.54.

Track and field

• Seattle Pacific University freshman Lynelle Decker placed 20th in preliminaries of the 1,500 meters at the NCAA Division II outdoor track and field national championships in Pueblo, Colo. The Mountain View High School graduate was 10th in her heat with a time of 4:49.03.

• George Fox University sophomore Charity Arn placed 15th in the heptathlon at the NCAA Division III outdoor track and field championships in La Crosse, Wis. The Woodland High School graduate totaled 4,444 points, throwing the javelin with her left arm to protect an injured right arm.n Northwest University senior Matt Porter placed 11th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NAIA outdoor track and field championships in Marion, Ind. The Hockinson High School graduate finished in 9:26.46. Porter was fourth-fastest in preliminaries.

• Lewis-Clark State College senior Kelsey Klettke placed 12th in the 1,500 meters at the NAIA outdoor track and field championships in Marion, Ind. The Prairie High School graduate finished in 4:43.84. Klettke was eighth-fastest in preliminaries.

Linfield baseball

The Linfield College baseball team claimed the NCAA Division III national championship, winning the title with a 4-1 win over Southern Maine in Tuesday’s final at Appleton, Wis. The Wildcats (42-8) won the program’s third national title, but first as an NCAA program.

Linfield’s roster includes junior right-handed pitcher Garett Speyer, a Union High School graduate.

Speyer was 1-0 with three saves in 14 appearances this season, with a 2.92 earned run average in 242/3 innings pitched.

Crew

• Oregon State senior Alexa Ortiz was named a CRCA National Scholar-Athlete by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association for the third consecutive year. The Skyview High School graduate carries a 3.92 grade point average in zoology with a pre-veterinary option and minors in chemistry, entomology and fish and wildlife science. She will graduate from OSU summa cum laude. Ortiz was the No. 6 seat in the Beavers’ varsity eight.

• Oklahoma City University sophomore Kayla Yraceburu placed second in the single sculls event at the annual Dad Vail Regatta held May 10-11 on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. The Camas High School graduate finished behind her training partner, Liz Mathews of Wichita, Kan. Yraceburu helped OCU’s varsity eight reach the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association championship regatta final for the first time in program history.
