Fruit tree pest and disease prevention: 6 to 8 p.m. June 3 at the Vancouver Community Library, 901 C St. Learn about training/pruning for good light and airflow, irrigation, nutrition, mulching, orchard maintenance, fruit thinning and cultural techniques for reducing pests and diseases. First 20 people to email erika.johnson@clark.wa.gov will receive a free semi-dwarf gala apple tree. Free.

Vegetation management for the new-age gardener: 7 p.m. June 4 at CASEE, Room 202/205, 11104 N.E. 149th St., Brush Prairie. Learn more about what vegetation management can do for Clark County and several free programs you can be a part of. This session includes updates on local noxious weeds, as well as ways to identify and report noxious weeds when and where you see them. Free.

Family wormshop: 10 a.m. to noon June 8 at CASEE, 11104 N.E. 149th St., Room 202, Brush Prairie. Learn the basics of vermicomposting and prepare bedding for a worm bin. Bin and worms provided. WSU Extension Clark County Master Gardener volunteer training: The 12-week training begins Sept. 4 and continues Wednesdays through Nov. 27 from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. Upon completion, new volunteers are expected to complete a 50-hour internship their first year and serve 35 hours yearly thereafter to maintain certification. $245.
